Lulz. I just took a political typology test, and while I put down what I thought were some moderate answers, it said I was a "entrepreneur" and basically a Neo-con, which i'm not. I took it again, and it said I was an "upbeat" which, upon looking at that description of political beliefs, more closely resembled me. The Entrepreneur "Who they are" stat resembled me though, gun owners, church goers, predominantly white, male, college grads, and a high percentage of married and military or former military. And I even said the government needs to promote environmental regulation and support immigration! I changed around the strength of my answers the 2nd time though, 1st time I went through I put strong on everything. I'll send you the link (you might not be interested, its my sort of thing though)

It's a cultural matter I think. There's cultures and the people within them who highly value marriage, and others and some people within them who do it. It is sad, wouldn't you say? I hope the best for the of yourself and your girlfriend, though :)
My cousin just got married a month ago, and if they guy wasn't the great personality and not doing any stupid shit like he was, lol my uncle would have been all over him :p it's funny though, the guy is like 6' 4" and my uncle is in his late 50s and 5' 7 or 5 8, and lol, my uncle just strikes fear into people. |

Then you look among people whose parents have some say in the decision, or among some poorer, traditional people in the world, and most famously in India, where parents and other older people have almost full control over spouses, it's like.. they get along quite well, and rarely a divorce. Yeah, you can say social pressure because over in other places people actually give a damn about stopping things like abortion and divorce etc., but mostly, it's just the way it turns out. And oh? Some of my relatives in my mother's and father's generation had been married in Iraq, some couples' parents were the old traditional type who picked the spouse sorta.. they come to America so if the woman or man wants divorce, there won't be any societal pressure on them... well turns out, never has been a divorce.

That is true :) And the second part, I didn't mean that the parents fully choose who lol, but offer advice and suggestions. I think it's ridiculous if parents don't play any part in it, because they know a hell of a lot more on this matter than the to-be-engaged do.
It's just weird for me.. you look at American society where the two partners usually have 100% decision of whom to marry without any external influences, and you'd think THEY would know each other better than anyone else and would know if they are good to marry each other or not. |

"When you have a GF that you love, adore, and respect.......everything you said will be thrown out the window."
Yes that is true :) but it is one that someone TRULY loves, adores, and respects, not thinking they do. I see this with some of my friends who think it is so.., funny how gf's are like almost disposable entities to them. It sorta scares me when some guys talk shit about their gf's.. i just think to myself, and he loves her?? "But like you said, If you care so much for a woman, just go on with it and marry her. And about the parents picking whom their children marry and the percentage thing IS TRUE. " |
