No offense to the troops, their families, or our veterans, but the UAW has a long history backing illegitimate wars against the will of the majority of its members. It has been suggested that Walter Reuther actually used his loud, public support of President Johnson and the Vietnam War to get assurance from Johnson that we would not bring Taft-Hartley to bear against the union during its '67 negotiations. I'm all for supporting the troops -- with kind words and kinder actions: like bringing them home.
Frankly, where was this video person during all the recent struggles fought by their own members? They were fighting to protect fellow Americans too. I'm not trying to diminish or discredit the joint 'thanking the military' effort. It's sincere and important. But so are the battles that that outfit are allegedly appointed to fight WITH their own union brothers and sisters. If not 'with,' then I suppose a 'thank you video' would be nice too. Thanks again and take care, Telatsu! |

I see what you are saying, but that channel is devoted ONLY as a way for people to give a shout out to loved one's in Armed Forces....In this case the Politics of Union vs the Company isn't involved. It is merely a joint venture.

Hi Telatsu. Thanks for the comment. With regard to the rudeness of the 'cozy' comment left on the "UAW-GM Center For Human Resources" channel: please understand, when sanctioned collusion between any union and the company gets to the point that 'company approved' union appointees serve as the company's HR department rather than their own members' needs, all workers suffer. I don't think a similar comment left on a 'Politicians and Lobbyists for Citizen Voices' channel would seem as unfair. We have been taught to believe real unionism undermines all economic growth -- rather than the fact that only real unionism can ensure that the benefits of economic growth reach beyond the world's top 1 percent. Thank you again for the feedback!

What's with the
"Jointness extends all the way to youtube! How cozy!" comment? Seems a little rude. |
