I am looking forward to upcoming experiments at the CERN atom smasher. There are a lot of really neat things we could learn about really small particles. Even if the information obtained proves to be of no practical use, people might come up with some really cool new theories about stuff and there's only a small chance that these experiments could go awry and destroy the planet, or even really hurt France or Switzerland much. To boldly go where no man has gone before - party on, scientists!
