The ad about ATV's starting forest fires is misleading. Only if the spark arrester was removed or not working properly could a fire start. The ad makes no mention of checking and maintaining the ATV's exhaust but simply states that ATV's start fires. Smokey Bear is a good mascot for raising awareness when people are in the woods but this is totally a cheap shot making ATV's look bad. Many ATV's are used to help transport firemen to remote sites and are are used for many good things including recreation.
This ad should be pulled or changed to address the issue to maintaining the ATV properly to avoid starting a fire. |

The ad you have presented concerning atvs is appalling to say the least. Watch out! Your prejudice agains the atv and those who ride them is obvious. That is one of the most misleading pieces of information I have ever witnessed.
I could support an ad that warns against removing the Forest Service approved Spark Arrestor of a machine or an ad that encourages maintenance of the equipment. But it doesn't, it just says that atvs cause sparks and don't start them here. Now we're going to have every Tom, Dick and Harry environmental do-gooder hassling us for even being on Forest Service Land. If you are an organization striving to give out reliable information then you pull this ad on the grounds that it is misleading and bias. Please pull the Smokey Bear/ATV ad immediately. |

wow , wanting to stop forest fires is comendable , lying to the public about atv sparks is low balling the entire industry for not giving a shit about the enviroment
1: atv's have a spark arresters fitted in muffler (only leagle way to ride in forest) so facts not researched well there. 2: a better way to point out sources of ignition ei; smoker throwing a ciggarette butt into brush, campers leaving fire unattended , fire works on July 4th as you can see atver's want to burn the forest down we ride in . makes sence we would rather ride in a charcoal bed , much more enjoyable. idiots. |

Come on! That ad with the ATV's is just plain ridiculous, you have no reason to push out that ATV's start forest fires, as almost every ATV/ATC has spark arrestors, and the 2 in your ad do too. That ad is just a shot at us offroad enthusiasts. Please pull the ad, its wrong.
If needed i'll make a video with some dry grass and hold it to my ATV's exhaust, to prove it wont make a fire (if this is a response to the Manitoba fire) |

Before you start running National ads about ATV's starting forest fires you should really do your homework. ATVs are required to use an spark arrestor while riding in national forest areas. With this spark arrestor on, there is about a 99.99% chance that you will not start a forest fire.
I agree that humans start 99% of all fires but implying that ATV start those fires is just a plain attack on ATV with no substantial proof. Please stop you attack on ATVs and try to educate people on what really starts forest fires, camp fires, cigarettes and such. PLEASE REMOVE THESE ADS ASAP AND SUBMIT AN APOLOGY TO THE ATV COMMUNITY |
