You see, that is the problem with representative democracy !
In Germany both leading partys are in favour of the EU ! Conservatives or socialists, it doesn't matter ! So they gave up the DM, our former currency .Opened our borders, due the treaty of Schengen. Try to tell us restlessly that we need the EU to compete with the rest of the world due globalisation ! I do not buy it anymore, they deny me to raise my little voice on anything related to the EU, even due national elections ! Maybe you're even right by saying that most french,Dutsch and irish wanted to give their national governments " a kick up the arse " but that's the only way to show those governments that the people are not saticfied with the way the EU goes ! |

LOL
I know. I tend to be nice to everyone until they piss me off. Then I give them a "what for" ... and a few minutes later, after getting it off my chest ... am back to normal :) Cant see the point of being angry with people. Its the whole diversity issue - it takes everyone to make this world of ours enjoyable .. whether I agree with them or not :) |

Hey Europeunity. Am doing fine mate. Hectic day at work, a few alcoholic beverages at the local pub, and now home mellowing out.
Looking forward to a relaxing weekend coupled with dinner tomorrow night with a female friend :) |

KtBdOKW - have you read the Constitution and the Treaty of Lisbon?
Also, it is well documented that the vast majority of people [in all EU countries] have NOT read either the Constitution or the Treaty. Further, I am not saying Democracy is wrong, nor have I ever claimed that. However, lets realise also that none of the EU countries [let alone any other democratic country] is a participatory democracy but a representative democracy. People vote for their politicians to make the decisions, to run the country etc .. and people voice their support or opposition on that government at election time. |

Overhauling ! Yes they need it most certainly !
But how can this be accomplished if your assumptions are true and the EU is similar to the UN or the WTO ? Right, it can't ! You've read the constitution and the Lisbon treaty ? Maybe the french, the Dutchmen and the irish have read it also and came to the conclusion that it's all just a piece of crap ? By definition, in a democracy, the people are always right ! Not the bloody politicians or foreign spectators ! Wether educated or not ! |
