THANKFUL IN *ALL* THINGS

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Eph.5:15-17

Why am I a Christian?
I was not brought up in church. My parents are not believers. None of my extended family are. My younger sister turned out the way she was raised (non-religious).
Despite not having read the bible or being influenced by christians, I've always been theist, from my earliest memories (around 3-4 yrs. of age). I have no explanation for this, all I can tell you is that the existence of God has always been obvious to me due to the world around me and my own conscience. I never needed anyone to convince me God exists. Not once in my life have I doubted His existence.
When I was 19 I came to understand what the Cross was all about. I understood that I had sinned against this Holy God (the One whom I could not rationally deny) and I understood what tremendous means He had provided to me, personally, to reconcile myself to Him. I understood what the cross meant, therefore of course I became a christian. How could I not?

Why do people disrespect the people who are the most patient, understanding, and respectful? Because disrespectful, rude people mistake these fine qualities as weaknesses, whereas they are really signs of true inner strength.

BTW---for any random person out there who happens to read this---it is currently 10pm on a friday night and my 21 yr. old, Kevin, is making me French Toast. Is that not the sweetest thing you ever heard? My son ROCKS! They both do! I have the BEST sons in the whole world. More precious than anything, I'm tellin ya! So, neener neener! They're mine, you can't have them! ;-)

The wheat and the tares grow up closely together in the same field. More difficult to tell them apart in the beginning, but as time goes on, we see the tares proudly shooting straight up, making themselves known; whereas the wheat's "heads" are humbly bowed. We don't remove the tares, (that's God's job!) but in time as maturity comes, it becomes very easy to recognize them!

ProdigalSonMuzik asks christians "name 5 reasons why you can never be an atheist".
Here's mine.
I can never be an atheist because:
1) Becoming an atheist would require that I deny the existence of the world around me (the existence of the universe is sufficient proof for me that a Creator exists). The world around me is reality. I am unwilling to divorce my mind from reality (which is what would need to happen in order for me to become atheist). BTW, I do not care HOW God created (whether God created via evolution or not).

Oct. 5: I've always considered myself to be moderately in between Calvinism and Arminianism, since I see scripture which appears to me to be at least partly supportive of both views. (Maybe this is because God won't allow Himself to be put in a box, maybe the truth is found somewhere in the middle of both camps) I'll tell you one thing, I'm sick and tired of unbelievers childishly acting as though God owes them something, as if God needs to jump through their hoops before they will believe in Him. I have viewed God's grace as resistable due to man's free will, and I viewed Christ's atonement as available to all men (but only effective for those who receive Him), yet I used to view Arminianism as too man-centered, and as a result of George Bryson's book, I viewed Calvinism as too cold-hearted. It seems the adherents so often are more interested in promoting the cause of "calvinism" than promoting the cause of Christ. Yet..I most definitely do view God as sovereign. I used to say I don't care about the "mechanics of salvation" because I viewed the never ending debates as a waste of time, therefore I never spent sufficient time studying the Calvinistic viewpoint in order to really be able to properly evaluate it. Though it may be difficult to find the time, I'm hoping to finally remedy that and it is possible I may have a slight shift in my worldview as a result, which I think may be of benefit to me personally. We'll see.

Someone just told me they think heaven will be boring. Pffft! Infinite discovery is not boring. From a theist perspective, God is by nature infinitely glorious. Where and when does God's majesty end? It doesn't! If there is no end to the majesty of Who He is, then for us creatures it means there is no end to discovery of Him, of Who He is, therefore, heaven could never be boring.
